Ingredients: one egg, small amount of oil (about 1/4 cp), one container of frozen applejuice concentrate (dilute with 2 cans of hot water to make a warm concentrated mixture), salt (just to taste), yogurt (1/2 cup) or milk, flour (this recipe takes about 4-5 lbs and we use the King Arthur Stone Ground, this needs to be flexible), yeast (one or two envelopes of dry) and if you like a little nutmeg... (gives a richer flavor)

Start sponge of warm apple juice, flour and yeast and set aside. Then wisk together egg and oil. Add other liquids (rest of applejuice, milk or yogurt), add sponge when it has started working.

Add dry ingredients: salt, flour and nutmeg to the wet ingredients. Adding enough flour to make a dough you can handle without it sticking all over your hands.

Scrape dough out onto a floured board and knead until it makes a nice soft dough that bounces back when you poke it. Not too much flour or you'll have dry bread and will have to wait a LONG time for it to rise.

Place in oiled bowl and cover loosely with plastic in a warm place to rise.

Afte the dough has doubled. Uncover and punch the dough down.
Knead for a while more until air bubbles are mostly released from the first rise.

Cut into pieces as desired for loaves. Here I am cutting smaller pieces for rolls and will also make two hamburger buns for supper.

Once your loaves and rolls are shaped. Place in greased baking containers and let rise until doubled.

Here they are all ready for the oven.

Yum... homemade whole wheat bread.
Thanks for taking the time to share.

Hmmm, that brings back memories! I wasn't a huge fan when I was younger, but I bet I would love it now! Life lesson, always cherish the things in life... one day you will miss those little things from childhood. :) Love ya mom
I LOVE wheat bread! I have been making it for about 4 years now. I also love my little scraper/ cutter like you are using. I use that thing for more than just bread making! Nothing gets the dough off the counter like that does.
Oh that looks SO good!!! Isn't it just the best feeling to make homemade bread for your family?? Looking at your pictures, I can almost smell that homemade bread smell!!! :)
I so appreciate you visiting my blog! :)
