Today is a beautiful sunny day and the blackflies were active this morning. I went down to the garden to water a few things before work and see what Mr. Doug had put in yesterday. It looks really great. I took a few pictures, but it was so dark still that they didn't come out very well. I think the battery is getting low in the camera as well, which didn't help. I got a few brocolli and cauliflower at Longacres and Mr. Doug is going to use those to divide up the different types of winter squash we're trying out this year. We love winter squash and if these all produce they way they say they will.... well, we might be just over run. The nice thing is that squash freezes well and it's an easy keeper. We just finished up the ones we grew last year.

We're looking for some used canning jar lids to use as row markers. You can see a few of these on the stakes that are marking the rows now. If you have any of those kicking around... let me know.

The house in the background of the downhill picture is our neighbor. Really nice people. They seem to like gardening too. They have a really pretty perennial garden on the side of their house that we can see and enjoy. The downhill picture just shows the top of the garden. This is where the beets are planted and is actually situated over the top of our leach field.

The other picture is of Mr Doug in the garden and is looking up the hill at our place. You can see our little camper covered in blue tarp. Our mobile home is behind with a green tarp. Tarps work great to keep moisture out in the winter and in summer. The building in the foreground is the chicken coop/greenhouse. I originally built this in Ascutney out of salvaged lumber. When we moved it Mr. Doug changed some things and we made the roof more peaked so the snow would fall off... the problem is it falls off right into the driveway :). Live and learn. We started quite a few plants in the greenhouse this year. I still haven't put my perennials in the ground, but hope to this weekend. The veggies were more important.

I'll try to keep this updated.

God is so good!

Have a nice day.
